Inversions – Turn Your Practice Upside Down! Nancy Marcy – 8/17
Inversions are one of the most beneficial categories of asanas and very important to a complete yoga practice. This two-hour workshop will cover the queen and king of yoga postures: Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) and Sirsasana (Head Balance), including:· Principles of alignment • Prerequisite strength and skills
· Effects and benefits • Cautions and contraindications
· Preparatory poses • Use of props and spotting
· How to safely get into, sustain and develop, and exit these asanas
· Alternative asanas that have similar benefits This workshop is appropriate for students with at least six months’ experience and no acute neck or shoulder injuries. Continuing Education credits are available for yoga teachers.
